Daytona Beach, FL - A motorcyclist was killed in a crash after racing with the driver of a car in Daytona Beach on Tuesday afternoon, according to Daytona Beach Police (DBPD). Police responded to the intersection of South Nova Rd. and Woodcliff Dr. in Daytona Beach at about 4:51 PM on Tuesday after reports of a fatal crash. Officers learned that Dylan Carvalho had been racing with the driver of a silver Ford Mustang. Another driver was trying to turn south onto Nova Rd. from Woodcliff Dr., according to DBPD. Carvalho tried to stop, but he couldn't, and his motorcycle slid across the road, crashing into that vehicle. Carvalho and his motorcycle were then thrown into the southbound lanes of Nova Rd. Carvalho was struck by the driver of a Ford Escape who was driving south on Nova, DBPD says. The driver of the Ford Escape remained on scene. Carvalho was pronounced dead at the scene by Daytona Beach Fire Department. The driver of the Mustang fled the scene, and police are still searching for that driver. The crash is still under investigation, and more information will be provided as it becomes available. Photo courtesy Anna Om and Shuttertock.com Copyright Southern Stone Communications 2017.
