Posted
Daytona Beach, FL - Update: Daytona Beach police are looking for the man who shot a woman at a Spruce Street home on Sunday. At around 11 AM on Sunday, police arrived at 556 Spruce Street to find a woman laying on the living room floor with a gunshot wound to her abdomen. The woman told police that she had been shot accidentally while she was in the bedroom with her friend "Charles" who was playing around with a firearm. She said that she asked "Charles," who was later identified as Vontrell Gregory, 24, to stop but he continued to load and unload the gun and pull the trigger while the gun was pointed at her. She says that when he "accidentally" shot her, he ran from the bedroom and out the back door. Two witnesses were sleeping on the couch in the living room when they heard the gunshot. They told the police that the woman ran from the bedroom into the living room holding her stomach with her hands covered in blood. One of the witnesses said that she had no idea that Gregory was in the bedroom and had no idea what his name was. A third witness who lives across the street told police that he heard arguing between a man and a woman and then a loud "pop." The third witness did not see Gregory run from the home. When police questioned the victim after she was in recovery from surgery, she maintained that Gregory was a friend who had stayed over for the night. She said that he was not a resident and that they were not in a relationship. When presented with a photo lineup, she could not identify the man who shot her. Police were able to identify the Gregory through another photo lineup. He was wearing a black shirt and blue jeans at the time of the incident and he is said to go by "Boonanny Capo." Gregory was found to be in violation of his probation and an arrest affidavit was filed.
