Police Investigate Possible Social Media Threat Against DeLand High School

Posted

DeLand, FL - Police say they were informed on Thursday afternoon about a possible threat made on social media referencing a planned walkout at DeLand High School on Friday.

Detectives interviewed several students but weren't able to find out where the post came from. Officials say they don't think the threat is credible, but, as a precautionary measure, multiple police officers have been assigned to the school and detectives continue to work with school officials and speak with students.

Authorities say if there is a perceived threat or if anything suspicious is seen on campus, law enforcement should be contacted. Residents can call the DeLand Police Department at 386-626-7400 or leave an anonymous tip at DeLandPD.com.
