Man Hit And Killed By Train In Holly Hill Has Been Identified

Holly Hill, FL-Holly Hill Police have identified Wednesday's train victim as 55-year-old Darren Ross of DeLand.  Investigation into the accident determined that Ross was struck by a south bound train at approximately 12:35 a.m.  During the night, two other trains went through the area.  Ross was not discovered until after sunrise when the conductor of a northbound train saw his body on the tracks. Earlier reporting: Roads were blocked in Holly Hill early today after a man  was reportedly hit and killed by a northbound train around 6:38 AM. The victim is an adult white male according to Holly Hill Police Chief Steve Aldrich. Flomich Street and Walker Street were both closed at the tracks by police activity. Three other people have been hit and killed by trains here recently. A Seabreeze High School student was hit and killed in Ormond Beach in May, a man hit and killed in Holly Hill in May, and a bicyclist was hit and killed by a train in Daytona Beach in April of this year.
