New Smyrna Beach, FL-New Smyrna Beach has acquired grant funds that will help non-profit organizations providing services to homeless and disadvantaged people. The City of New Smyrna Beach is now accepting applications to use the grants funds.

Community Resource Coordinator Donna Gray-Banks said the grants are a first step towards helping homeless and disadvantaged people. She expects at least ten 501(c)3 organizations to apply for the grants.

The City expects to award five grants of up to $5,000. The New Smyrna Beach City Commission will award the grants in September for programs beginning October 1, 2016. The deadline to apply is 3 p.m., June 10, 2016.
