Daytona Beach, FL – Compared to numbers from September 2016, passenger traffic through Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) decreased 12% during September 2017.
“Hurricane Irma had a significant impact on our operations in September,” said Rick Karl, Airport Director. “With 67 flights canceled, we expected that September passenger traffic would be down compared to last year. The storm not only negatively impacted passenger numbers in Daytona Beach but universally across the state of Florida.”
This September, 47,272 people traveled through DAB compared to last September’s 53,691 passengers. In the last year (ending on September 30), the number of passengers flying in and out of DAB increased 3.1% to 711,731. In 2016, 689,586 people flew in or out of DAB.
“Even with nearly 100 flights canceled this year because of weather events, we still ended the fiscal year with a 3 percent increase,” said Karl. “We anticipate the next six months to trend upward over last year, as we experienced during the months prior to the hurricane.”
