Airport Passengers

Daytona Beach, FL-The number of passengers traveling through Daytona Beach International Airport continues to increase. Business Development Director Jay Cassens said that in the month of May, 66,680 passengers flew in and out of the airport. That's a 10.5 percent increase over May of 2015. Cassens said Jet Blue is still a big driver of that traffic but Delta Airlines is also doing well. They will be adding a flight a day for the months of July and august. For the 12 months ending May 31, total passenger traffic at DBIA increased 4 percent with 634,902 passengers traveling through the facility last year compared to 661,048 passengers this year. The capacity, or number of seats, offered to DBIA increased by 10 percent in May--the seventh consecutive month of year-over-year traffic increases and fifth month of double-digit increases. Cassens said he does expect passenger traffic to keep increasing through the rest of the year. He also mentioned that DBIA will have a TSA pre-check enrollment center opening up in the next couple of weeks. DBIA will be the smallest airport in the country to have such a center. Cassens said the cost is $85 for five years of enrollment in the program. Copyright Southern Stone Communications 2016.
