Palm Coast, FL - A 31-year-old Palm Coast woman was arrested after deputies say she was involved in a hit-and-run crash and was driving drunk with a blood-alcohol level of almost three times the legal limit while a child was in the back seat. Flagler County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) says that Crystal Ferreira was driving a Volkswagen Jetta on Palm Coast Parkway just after 7 PM on Friday. Deputies report that she hit a car at the intersection of Palm Coast Pkwy. and Cypress Point Pkwy. and fled the scene. FCSO caught up with Ferreira as she was pulling into a parking spot at a nearby Sonny's BBQ restaurant. According to arrest reports, the Jetta had significant front-end damage. Ferreira had mumbled speech, and there was an aroma of alcohol on her breath. She admitted that she had been drinking Vodka and Red Bulls. A child was sitting in a car seat in the back of the Jetta, and the child was unharmed and remained calm throughout the investigation, according to reports. Ferreira said she had no injuries, and she declined medical treatment. Ferreira agreed to a field sobriety test, and arrest reports say that she was having difficulty keeping her balance and was having a hard time following instructions from deputies. Breathalyzer tests revealed that Ferreira had blood-alcohol content (BAC) levels of .234 and .214. The legal BAC level for drivers in Florida is .08. Ferreira was taken to the Flagler County Jail and is charged with driving under the influence, child neglect, and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.
