Palm Coast, FL- A recent increase in bear activity has prompted the city of Palm Coast, along with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission to offer a presentation, "How to be Bearwise in Palm Coast" later this week. FWC Bear Managment Program Coordinator David Telesco said this is the time of year for bears to get busy increasing their food intake in preparation for winter. Telesco said while some bears may not hibernate, mothers-to-be need to make a den for their babies. The number one rule is to keep your trash can secure. Telesco said bears will eat just about anything that can be considered food, including pet food, bird seed and especially trash. The "How to be Bearwise" workshop begins at 6 P.M. on Thursday, August 18 in the Palm Coast City Hall Community Wing. To learn more about being "Bearwise" click here.
