Palm Coast, FL - A Palm Coast man was sentenced last week to 95 years in prison after being convicted in August of firing an AK-47 style assault rifle into a crowd in Daytona, hitting four people. 29-year-old Rakim Jamal Watson received six consecutive sentences totaling 95 years during his sentencing last week, according to a press release from the Seventh Judicial Circuit State Attorney's Office. Watson is accused of four counts of aggravated battery, one count of discharging a firearm from a vehicle, and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. "It was an absolute miracle that nobody was killed. It was the combined efforts of the Daytona Beach Police Department and South Daytona Police Department that helped make these convictions possible,” says State Attorney R.J. Larizza.
