Palm Coast, FL – FCSO arrested a Palm Coast man  for robbing the Advance America at 800 Belle Terre Pkwy in Palm Coast with a toy gun – a robbery the man called a joke.

Deputies got the call at about 4:52 PM, and when they arrived on scene witnesses told them a man, later identified as 59-year-old Michael Carr, came into the store wearing a trench coat. He stumbled over to a waiting area and emptied a plastic container containing pamphlets. Then he walked over to the front counter, put the empty plastic container on the counter, pulled out a silver handgun and ordered employees to fill the container with “green stuff.”

Employees activated the silent hold-up alarm and Carr said the gun was only a toy and he was only joking. Needless to say, the employees thought they were actually being robbed.

While he was standing at the counter, 2 customers came in and Carr hid the gun in his trench coat. Then he told employees to help the other customers – he would wait for them to finish.

Carr sat down in the waiting area and spoke with another customer until deputies arrived. He was arrested without incident.

Carr, of 40 Ryapple Lane, has been charged with robbery and is being held at the Flagler County Inmate Facility.
