Palm Coast Hires New City Manager

Palm Coast, FL - After vetting four candidates, the Palm Coast City Council decides on their next city manager.

And that decision is Matthew J. Morton, who, according to Cindi Lane, Palm Coast's Communication Manager, is no stranger to city government.

Lane said Morton has around 20 years of experience working with cities in the Seattle, Washington area.

He started his career as a planner and worked his way up through the ranks to become the chief executive.

Most recently, Morton served as the city administration for Duvall, Washington. Before that, he served as the administrator for Cle Elum, Washington.

Lane also said Morton is an ICMA certified manager through the International City/County Management Association.

"I know it was a very tough decision for the city council," said Lane. "But, we're looking forward to having Mr. Morton join the city of Palm Coast."

Lane said that Morton is still currently residing in Washington as the city works to finalize his contract. Once his contract is finalized, the city will help Morton and his family move down to Florida so he may start his new position.

That could take up to a month, according to Lane. Until then, Beau Falgout will continue to serve as the interim city manager.
