Palm Coast, FL – Palm Coast Fire Lt. Dan Driscoll will be among several firefighters and police who will compete against each other in the upcoming 19th Annual Guns N’ Hoses Charity Boxing Tournament.
Driscoll, 32, was promoted to lieutenant in 2016 after 8 years of being a Palm Coast Firefighter. He decided to start training a year ago after some of his friends competed in the event before. He trains at the boxing tournament’s training camp and with a private coach locally.
“Training and preparing for the tournament has been a lot of fun,” says Driscoll. “We’ve made up a T-shirt with the logo for the Palm Coast Professional Firefighters (IAFF Local 4807), and everyone is excited about it.”
Driscoll continued and said “the IAFF (International Association of Fire Fighters) and the Fraternal Order of Police have been doing this charity tournament for years, and it’s all for a good cause. All proceeds go to Muscular Dystrophy, which is IAFF’s charity, and the FOP Foundation.”

The matches begin on at 6:30 PM, Saturday, April 22, at the Veterans Memorial Arena, 300 A. Philip Randolph Blvd., Jacksonville. The event is open to the public. The competitors are paired up based on weight and boxing skill. Driscoll’s match is the 9th out of 15. Several other Palm Coast firefighters will also be there to see the fights, including Deputy Fire Chief Jerry Forte. “Lt. Driscoll is as much of a kind gentleman as he is a professional leader in the fire service. He has been working diligently on his first year as a lieutenant and has much success with the people he works with,” says Forte. “We have watched him train for this event and continue to be impressed at his skill level.
