Palm Coast, FL - The man who's led Palm Coast Fire Department since the city's incorporation is set to pass on command today.

Longtime Fire Chief Michael C. Beadle (Right), will retire today and will transfer command of the Palm Coast Fire Department to Deputy Chief Gerald "Jerry" Forte (Left).

The ceremony is set to take place today at 2 p.m. at Palm Coast Fire Station 25 on 1250 Belle Terre Parkway, and the public is invited.

The ceremony promises pomp and circumstance fitting of the fire service tradition. The Palm Coast Fire Department Honor Guard will present colors and several formal presentations will be made before Deputy Chief Forte becomes Chief Forte.

Chief Beadle started as chief in 2000, not long after Palm Coast was incorporated. He has overseen the tremendous growth in both size and breadth of the fire department. He started as a volunteer firefighter in 1988 and became a career firefighter in 1990.

Chief Forte started as a volunteer in 1990, becoming a career EMT/firefighter in 1992. He rose through the ranks and has served as Deputy Fire Chief since 2009.

For those wanting to attend the ceremony, the Palm Coast Fire Department urges you to carpool as parking is limited.
