Palm Coast Bicyclist Hit & Killed By Driver, 17, After Failing To Yield Right Of Way

Palm Coast, FL - A 59-year-old bicyclist from Palm Coast was killed on Sunday night when he ignored the crossing signal and tried to cross Palm Coast Pkwy then was hit by a vehicle, driven by a 17-year-old, going through the intersection.

FHP says the teen was heading west in the right lane of Palm Coast Pkwy in a yellow 2010 Dodge Nitro at around 6:45 PM on the night of March 5. A bicyclist was at the northwest corner of the intersection of Palm Coast Pkwy and Boulder Rock Dr.

Suddenly the bicyclist tried to cross Palm Coast Pkwy, disregarding the pedestrian crossing signal. The bicyclist failed to yield the right of way to the 17-year-old and the front of the Dodge Nitro hit the bicyclist.

The bicyclist was taken to Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. His name won't be released until his next of kin are notified.
