Palm Coast Arts Foundation Beats $50K Goal For Concert Stage Roof

Palm Coast, FL - The Palm Coast Arts Foundation(PCAF) announced that they have surpassed their goal for their $50,000 Matching Gift Challenge that benefits their 'Raise the Roof' campaign.

The challenge began on March 17 and ended on May 19. In 66 days, PCAF needed to match $50,000, for a total of $100,000, to go towards the roof for their outdoor stage. Through donations online and through the mail, PCAF was able to go over their goal by raising $62,000.

"The challenge came through March 17 when one of our Trustees offered to give us $50,000 as a match but gave us 66 days in which to raise that $50,000," says Nancy Crouch, Executive Director of PCAF. "And it came to a close a day early, so were were able to do it in 65 days and we exceeded our goal, 124% of our goal, so we exceeded it by about $12,000."

PCAF is a public non-profit organization that seeks to bring the community cultural arts and entertainment. PCAF has assured that all funds raised through this challenge will go toward the Raise the Roof campaign.

Lindsay Florence, a PCAF Trustee, donated the most for a single individual. She has been a part of the Foundation since it started and was honored at PCAF's 10th Annual Picnic and Pops concert for his leadership as the chair of the event.

Florence has a BA in political science and a certificate in music education from the College of William and Mary in Virginia and has a Master of Music degree from Indiana University.

He worked as a chorus teacher for 30 years before his retirement in 1999. During that time he directed church choirs for 28 years, with his choirs performing at the White House, Washington National Cathedral and the Kennedy Center. The Kennedy Center performance was achieved by his chorus winning the Young Artists in the Community contest.

"It was a challenge to raise $50,000 based on his $50,000 gift and it's going to go straight to 'Raise the Roof,' which is a big project because the stage is a 4,500 square foot outdoor stage," says Crouch. "But it has to be a roof that will withstand the weather and hurricane conditions of our area. And it will be an arching structure and it will actually have to coincide with next phase of our cultural arts complex there which will be an event center."
