Flagler County, FL - A Palatka man was arrested and charged by FCSO after he stole a car and crashed it while trying to escape deputies.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office was alerted by the Putnam County Sheriff's Office around 1 PM on Monday that a stolen car was headed into Flagler County.

Deputies spotted the stolen newer-model white Kia 4-door, with 3 people inside, at the intersection of US-1 and W. SR-100. When deputies tried to stop the vehicle, the driver kept going and eventually crashed.

2 of the suspects were detained for questioning while the third fled into the nearby woods. Rymfire Elementary was placed on code orange status as deputies searched for the third suspect.

The third suspect was apprehended after he walked out from behind 62 Reidsville Dr. in Palm Coast. The first two suspects weren't charged, but the third suspect and the driver, Zacchaeus Nelson, was charged with grand theft auto, resisting arrest without violence, and possession of cannabis under 20 grams.

He was transported to the Flagler County Jail.
