Ormond Beach, FL – A fatal Friday evening crash on W Granada Blvd. has left a 60-year-old Ormond Beach pedestrian dead.

At around 7:20 PM on Friday, a vehicle was driving westbound in the outside lane of W Granda Blvd. According to the crash report, 60-year-old Timothy Lane was lying in the westbound outside lane of W Granada Blvd. in front of Lohman’s Funeral Home.

The driver says she was driving 30 mph when she saw an object in the roadway. She says it was too dark to see anything clearly, which Ormond Beach Police corroborated. The driver swerved to the right to try to avoid a collision, but the driver's side bumper ultimately struck Lane.

The vehicle completely ran over Lane and then came to a stop 20 yards down the road. Lane was transported to Florida Hospital Medical Memorial Center for treatment but was later pronounced dead. The driver involved did not report any injuries.

Lane was not wearing any high visibility type clothing nor was he in a designated pedestrian crossing area.
