Ormond Beach Police Officer Hurt In Traffic Accident

UPDATE (11-06-18): FHP has identified the OBPD officer involved as 38-year-old Jeremy Goss. He suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the Toyota was 69-year-old George Kasper of Ormond Beach. He was not hurt, per FHP.

Troopers say Kasper was heading south on Ridgewood and attempted to make a left turn onto Rogers Park when the officer approached from behind with lights and sirens on and tried to go left around Kasper's truck.

Per the accident report, the truck turned in front of the officer, with the truck's left side hitting the right side of the officer's motorcycle, throwing the officer off the motorcycle.

Kasper was wearing a seatbelt at the time. Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be a factor.

Ormond Beach, FL - An Ormond Beach Police Department officer ends up in the hospital after his department-issued motorcycle collided with a Toyota truck.

The accident happened just before 1 o'clock this afternoon (November 6th) on South Ridgewood Avenue near Rogers Park Drive.

OBPD Officer Keith Walker says paramedics rushed the officer - who has yet to be identified - to Halifax Health Medical Center.

"The officer’s condition is listed as non-life threatening," Walker added. "The driver of the red truck was not injured."

The Florida Highway Patrol will be investigating the crash, as is standard when accidents involve a sworn law enforcement officer.

No other details have been released by OBPD or FHP at this time.
