Ormond Cop Hospitalized After His Motorcycle Collides With Truck

Ormond Beach, FLUpdate: The Ormond Beach cop was seriously injured after his police motorcycle crashed into a truck on Wednesday has been identified as David Starke. Stark remained in the hospital as of Thursday morning, and he is in stable condition, according to the Ormond Beach Police Department. Earlier Reporting:  An Ormond Beach cop was seriously injured after his police motorcycle crashed into a truck on Wednesday as he was responding to a report of a suspicious, armed person. According to the Ormond Beach Police Department, the officer had his emergency lights and siren on as he was traveling to the scene at 1425 Hand Ave. in Ormond Beach at around 3 PM Wednesday. While the officer was driving along the 1500 block of Hand Ave., a white truck made a U-turn in front of him. The police motorcycle hit the driver's door of the truck. The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene of the crash. The officer, whose name has not yet been released, was rushed to Halifax Health by Volusia County Sheriff's Office's Air One Helicopter as a trauma alert case.
