Orange City, FL – An Orange City police officer is facing felony charges after threatening and attempting to extort a Georgia woman for naked pictures.

25-year-old Joshua D. Fancher of DeLand was arrested by the Volusia County Sheriff's Office earlier today on a warrant out of Lowndes County, Georgia, for making terroristic threats.

The victim said she received numerous messages from an unknown person on Instagram and via text. These messages included threats to kill the victim and threats to kill and/or rape her family members if photos were not provided.

When Fancher was confronted with the charges at the Orange City Police Department, he resigned, according to  VCSO. He was then transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail.

Fancher is held without bond on the Georgia warrant.  Because of his status as a law enforcement officer, his mugshot is not eligible for release according to Florida law.

The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office is investigating the case.

VCSO executed a search warrant at Fancher's apartment in DeLand to assist the investigation.
