Daytona Beach, FL-Update: Due to an electrical malfunction, the Veterans Memorial Bridge in Daytona Beach (also commonly known as the Orange Avenue/Silver Beach Avenue Bridge) is closing this afternoon.  A well-signed detour is in place. Earlier reporting: If your daily drive takes you over the aging Orange Avenue drawbridge in Daytona Beach, don't go that way. The bridge will be closed as construction is set to start on the new high-rise Veterans Memorial Bridge. The work to complete the new bridge is expected to take about 32 months. Orange Avenue and Silver Beach Avenue will also be closed from Peninsula Drive to the traffic signal at City Island Parkway. You can use ISB or Main Street Bridge during the closure. 2016 Southern Stone Communications Copyright
