Bunnell, FL - The George Washington Carver Foundation’s online auction to benefit the Carver Community Center in Bunnell is underway. The online auction began Thursday and will be open until 6 PM on April 26. The auction is the primary fundraising event for the Carver Center. Some of the funds raised through past auctions were used for ceiling insulation for the Center, furniture for its library, a scoreboard, bleachers, scholarships, and a summer camp. Some of the items up for auction this year are an African safari, a stay at the Hammock Beach Resort, guided tours of area parks, golf outings with Sheriff Rick Staly and Superintendent James Tager, facilities rentals, surf instruction, gift baskets, and estate planning. Flagler officials say there are currently 61 auction items offered, but the list continues to grow. Bids will be tabulated through 6 PM April 26. “We are fortunate to have such a wide variety of items donated for the auction,” Cheryl Massaro, who oversees the G.W. Carver Community Center, says. “I believe the auction is well received by the community because there is something for everybody.” The Carver Center, located at 201 E. Drain St. in Bunnell, offers a wide variety of programs and benefits to the community including tutoring, after-school study, internet access, GED classes, and employment counseling. “I am really proud of the growth and improvements to the Carver Center,” explains Charlie Ericksen, Flagler Commissioner and chair of the Carver Foundations Governance Board. “It is because of the continued support of our residents that we have been able to make enhancements to the center for our community.” You can register and find the complete list of auction items at http://auction.carverfoundation.org. All proceeds will benefit the continued support and development of the G.W. Carver Community Center. Copyright Southern Stone Communications 2018.
