Daytona Beach, FL - A woman is dead following an accident this morning near Tiger Bay State Forest which caused significant traffic backups on U.S. 92/International Speedway Boulevard.

The Florida Highway Patrol says it happened around 8:30 a.m. on the eastbound side of ISB near Brick Road.

FHP Lieutenant Kim Montes tells us two vehicles were involved in the crash, including a front-end loader.

"One person was pronounced deceased on scene," Montes added.

That person - a yet-to-be identified woman - was driving a 2015 Dodge Dart eastbound on ISB in the right lane when her vehicle rear-ended the loader as it traveled right in front of her at a slower speed.

Troopers aren't certain at this point why the woman failed to slow as she approached the loader. It's also unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved or if she was wearing a seat belt, according to FHP.

The driver of the loader wasn't hurt.
