Officials Say National Guard Aircraft Caused Friday's Sonic Booms In Central FL

Posted

Central Florida – Officials have confirmed the source of the sonic booms many Central Floridians heard and felt at around 4:30 PM on Friday.

The Naval Air Station (NAS) in Jacksonville believes the sonic booms were the result of the Air National Guard flying F-15 aircrafts nearby. The NAS says nothing was dropped by the F-15s and that the large size of the aircraft caused the loud boom.

Many early reports believed the sonic booms were caused by NASA testing, however, NASA stated they were unrelated.
