Daytona Beach, FL - A boyfriend and girlfriend were arrested in Daytona Beach after officials say the couple stole a box of dog treats from the porch of an 87-year-old Daytona woman's home. 32-year-old Bryan Gibbons (who was wanted on charges of grand theft and uttering a forgery) and 25-year-old Jennifer Lynn Steinman were stopped by a Volusia County Sheriff's Office deputy as they were riding in a black Nissan SUV in the area of the 800 block of Peninsula Dr. in Daytona Beach on Saturday afternoon. The SUV was driving erratically, and there appeared to be an altercation happening in the car, according to VCSO. When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, Gibbons, the driver of the SUV, began to drive away from the deputy before pulling over. Steinman came out of the SUV holding an Amazon.com package in her hands. She claimed that she picked the package up from a friend's house. The owner of the package said she never met Steinman. Officials discovered the package contained $6 worth of dog treats. As law enforcement searched the vehicle, they found drugs and ammunition. A pistol magazine containing 11 rounds was found in the center console of the car. The search of the SUV also uncovered several plastic baggies containing heroin, methamphetamine residue, and psilocybin mushrooms, as well as five syringes and a contact lens case containing powder cocaine. Gibbons and Steinman were taken into custody and transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail. Gibbons was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, as well as possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, in addition to his charges of grand theft and uttering a forgery. Steinman was charged by VCSO with possession of cocaine, methamphetamine, cocaine, psilocybin, and drug paraphernalia. She also faces a charge from Daytona Beach Police Department of burglary of an occupied residence. "It's really important for people to be vigilant about their packages," says Andrew Gant, Public Information Officer for VCSO. "If you can, try to get those packages in as quickly as you can, and watch for them, because I can guarantee you, someone else is probably watching for them too."
