Officials: New Airline To Begin Flying Out Of DBIA

Posted

Daytona Beach, FL - Delta, American and JetBlue are about to have some more competition at Daytona Beach International Airport.

Officials at the Volusia County-run airport plan to announce a new air service tomorrow afternoon (September 12th) at 2:30 from the McGee Room at DBIA.

The exact details aren't clear yet, but airport management has confirmed it will be an airline which isn't currently flying out of Daytona Beach.

One possibility is Sunwing. DBIA officials have been in talks for several months with the Canadian airline about adding a direct route from Toronto - where Sunwing is based - to the World's Most Famous Beach.

Earlier this summer, Sunwing was offered an incentive package totaling over $250,000 from the airport and the Halifax Area Advertising Authority to start that service next January.
