Flagler County, FL - The Flagler County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) says the man wanted for fleeing the scene of two crashes last week, one of which sent a Flagler deputy to the hospital, has been arrested. Authorities were on the lookout 74-year-old James Rex Voorhees, of South Carolina, after they say Voorhees fled the scene of a crash near State Road 100 and I-95 in Flagler County on November 22. FCSO Deputy Bret Wood pursued Voorhees, but Wood crashed his motorcycle during the pursuit. Wood sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his chin, chest, and arms. Voorhees was arrested this week at his home in South Carolina on Wednesday morning. FCSO says that Voorhees contacted them and indicated that he was aware of the warrant for his arrest. The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office was then alerted. The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office took Voorhees into custody without incident. Voorhees is currently in custody in South Carolina and awaiting extradition to Flagler County. He faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident with injury, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, and driving with a suspended license with knowledge.
