Volusia County, FL – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Melbourne will initiate a flood watch Sunday afternoon as rain totals in east central Florida climb due to Subtropical Storm Alberto.  The Flood Watch will be in effect from 2 P.M. Sunday through 8 P.M. on Monday. The NWS outlines concerns of heavy rainfall and a low threat of isolated tornadoes in the area. These showers, which began on Saturday south of Orlando, will become widespread on Sunday. The NWS also expects gusty winds of 30 to 40 mph.   In the last 24 hours, the NWS also observed high rain totals across east central Florida as a result of Alberto, including 1.34 inches of rain in DeLand.
