Daytona Beach, FL- The number of people using the Daytona Beach International Airport for their travel plans has increased for the seventh straight month.  Passenger traffic increased 3.7 percent for August in comparison with the same month last year.  In August 2018, 68,237 passengers flew in or out of the county-operated airport, compared to 65,781 passengers last August. The total number for passenger traffic at DBIA during the 12 months ending August 31st, increased 2.7 percent with 737,920 passengers traveling through the airport this year. Airport Director Rick Karl said “Capacity, load factors and passenger traffic all increased in August over last year. Even though the ongoing taxiway project impacted some of the anticipated capacity growth, load factors were above average for the month. Increased demand, flights, and larger aircraft all contributed to the rise in passenger traffic.” Karl added, “With the recent announcement of Sunwing Airlines starting non-stop service from Toronto, and the growth of American Airlines and Delta, we anticipate demand to continue to increase throughout 2018 and into 2019.”
