NSB Police Searching For Suspect In Fatal Hit & Run

Posted

New Smyrna Beach, FL - The New Smyrna Beach Police Department wants your help to find and arrest a 32-year-old man for his role in a fatal hit-and-run accident last October.

NSBPD went on Facebook earlier today (August 8th), asking Jeremy P. Wharton to "do the right thing" and turn himself in.

According to that post, DNA evidence ties Wharton to the early-morning crash last October 29th which killed 21-year-old Kaelee Morrell and sent another person to the hospital with minor injuries.

Detectives think Wharton was behind the wheel of a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe around 2 a.m. that Sunday when it fled the scene of that incident on eastbound State Road 44 near Venetian Bay Golf Club.

Wharton is facing two felony charges of leaving the scene of a crash.

Anyone with information is asked to call NSBPD at 386-424-2245 or email rkirkland@cityofnsb.com.
