Daytona Beach, FL-It's not your imagination. It turns out it has been a record-setting and scorching hot start to July in Daytona Beach. It has also been unusually dry so far this month here. National Weather Service meteorologist Wil Ulrich in Melbourne says the first 18 days of the month are the warmest start to a July here on record with high temperatures each day averaging several degrees above normal. Ulrich says Daytona Beach is also drier than normal so far with 0.63 inches of rain measured at Daytona Beach International Airport over the first 18 days of the month. That's about 3 inches below normal for average rainfall so far in July. Daytona Beach averages just under 6 inches of rain in July. So, is there any change in sight? Ulrich says not really, though rain chances will go up a bit this week. However, he says, it won't be enough to get us anywhere near normal for monthly rainfall.   2016 Southern Stone Communications Copyright
