Daytona Beach, FL - No charges are pending at this time as police investigate a fatal accident on the first weekend of Bike Week 2016.

The Daytona Beach Police Department says it happened around 7:15 PM Sunday on North Nova Road around 500 feet south of the Brentwood Drive intersection.

A 38-year-old woman driving a 1999 Mercury 4-door vehicle was heading northbound on Nova when her vehicle collided with a pedestrian, according to DBPD Sergeant Jimmie Flynt.

"The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene," Flynt added. "There were no witnesses

located at the scene."

Investigators think the victim - identified at this time only as a man born in 1954 - wasn't using a crosswalk when he was struck by the Mercury.

"The driver of the vehicle was interviewed on scene," Flynt noted. "There is no video of the incident."

DBPD is attempting to find next of kin before releasing the victim's name, per Flynt.

The driver of the Mercury has been identified as Amber M. Bess Hawley of Holly Hill.
