Volusia County, FL - Volusia County Council's new chair was on Daytona's Morning News recently to talk about his new role.

Ed Kelley's 1st meeting as the chair was on Thursday, January 5. Speaking of Deb Denys being appointed as the Council's vice chair, Kelley had this to say: "I think she will serve a good function there. She's always active and out in the community in the area that she represents. So I think that will be a plus."

1 issue Kelley tackled early on in his 1st meeting was the length of the Volusia County Council meetings. He feels that too much time is spent discussing things that could be decided quickly. He hopes by shortening the meetings the council will move quickly when they can and have more times for more important issues. Kelley also wants to implement workshops outside of council meetings on specific issues.

Kelley said he hopes to have a plan put together for helping the County's homeless population within his 1st 120 days.
