Daytona Beach, FL - A New Smyrna Beach man gets 25 years in prison today after entering a no contest plea for a pair of crimes, including what prosecutors call the "horrific beating" of his wife's nearly 2-year-old daughter.
35-year-old Harold Hall III (above) - the girl's stepfather - will serve the first 15 years as a prison release reoffender due to his prior record, according to a press release from the office of Florida 7th Circuit State Attorney R.J. Larizza.
"Upon initial contact with the child, detectives said the child had bruising all over her body as well as missing teeth and infections in her mouth," stated Bryan L. Shorstein, a public information officer for Larizza's office. "The child was put in a medically induced coma after the incident."
Hall also pled no contest to robbing Sunglass World at Port Orange's The Pavilion with a mask on during Hurricane Irma.
The child's mother - 25-year-old Amber Hall (below) - is also facing charges for her daughter's abuse, which she was booked for at Volusia County Jail last October. That came around a month after her daughter was first admitted to the hospital. She's still held without bond at VCJ while the legal process plays out.
