Ormond Beach, FL - The City of Ormond Beach will have a new fire chief in just a few weeks.

Richard J. Sievers will be at the helm of the Fire Department on August 13.  He's the replacement for former Chief Robert Mandarino, who left the department at the end of June. Sievers brings almost 40 years of experience with various departments in South Florida, currently finishing up a stint as Fire Chief for the Broward Sheriff's Office. He has retired once, after working through every rank in the City of Lauderhill's fire department in 1999. After that, Sievers was Fire Chief of Lauderdale Lakes, which merged into the position he is leaving with the Broward Sheriff's Office. During an interview, Sievers said he and his wife have friends here and when the opportunity became available, he took it.  He went on to say that he feels he is a really good match for the job. Sievers said his wealth of experience will help him make a difference. A welcome reception is planned for after Chief Sievers starts his new job.
