Flagler County, FL - Flagler County has announced its hiring of a new Emergency Management chief. On January 8, Jonathan Lord will take over as the new Flagler County Emergency Management chief. Lord currently works as the State of Florida Division of Emergency Management Deputy Director. He will be moving from Tallahassee to Flagler with his wife and son. “I am excited about becoming part of a tight-knit community,” said Lord. Lord worked as the Miami-Dade County Emergency Management Deputy Director from 2009 to 2015. He has been working in Emergency Management in Florida since 2004 when he moved from New Jersey. Lord has also served on the Florida Emergency Preparedness Association (FEPA) Board of Directors for over three years. Lord received a B.S. in Emergency Medical Services from Hahnemann University (now part of Philadelphia's Drexel University). He has Department of Homeland Security Secret Clearance and is considered a Florida Professional Emergency Manager. According to Flagler County, recent disasters such as wildfires and Hurricanes Irma, Hermine, and Matthew drew Lord back to local government. “(I) realize that my passion for public safety and emergency management truly is at the local level,” said Lord. “We are thrilled to have Jonathan Lord join our staff,” said Craig Coffey, Flagler County Administrator. “He is well-qualified and has a breadth of experience we are looking for in our Emergency Management Chief.”
