Ormond Beach, FL-The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Environmental Discovery Center in Ormond Beach is Saturday and Brittany McDermott, Recreation Program Specialist with the City, says it's something that Ormond Beach has wanted to do for a long time.

McDermott says the new center is in Central Park 3-one of the four "phases" of the nearly 150-acre park that is right in the middle of Ormond Beach. McDermott sees the center as a "hub" of the sprawling park that winds it's way with pathways, waterways and playgrounds spread through the acres. McDermott says the vision of the center is as a place for programming and displays to discuss the ecosystem and environment of the park.

McDermott says of the park, "It's right in the center of town and you'd be amazed at how many people don't even know it's here."

The ribbon-cutting is Saturday, May 21, at 10 AM. The center is at 601 Division Avenue.  A link to the Environmental Center webpage is here.
