Oak Hill, FL- An Oak Hill man faces numerous charges after his home was raided by narcotics agents Tuesday morning, turning up a load of drugs and weapons.
This isn’t the first time 59-year-old “Sonny” Lee Hocker has been in trouble with the law. The Florida Department of Corrections web site shows that Hocker has already spent about a year in prison on a methamphetamine charge.
The multi-agency East Volusia Narcotics Task Force placed Hocker under investigation several months ago when they received information that he was once again involved in illegal activity. A search warrant was served at the residence located at 108 South Street.
A variety of drugs, including various prescription pills, marijuana, methamphetamine and meth-making chemicals along with eight firearms, a ballistic vest and a hand grenade were found. They also found a notepad with a recipe for making meth on the floor in the master bedroom.
The charges against Hocker include possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possessions or marijuana over 20 grams, possession of listed chemicals, two counts of possession of a Schedule II narcotic, two counts of possession of a Schedule IV narcotic, possession of drug paraphernalia, eight counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and one count each of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and possession of a ballistic vest while committing a felony. Hocker was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach to be held on a $285,500 bond.
Tuesday’s search warrant was served by the Task Force, with assistance from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office’s SWAT Team. The East Volusia Narcotics Task Force is a multi-agency force of narcotics agents from the Sheriff’s Office and the Ormond Beach, New Smyrna Beach and South Daytona police departments that shares resources and crosses jurisdictional boundaries to combat street-level drug and vice crimes.
