Municipalities Offer Sandbags As Hurricane Irma Approaches Florida

Volusia County - Residents who live in unincorporated Volusia County may bring their own bags and shovels and fill their own bags at the following locations, while supplies last. ID is required. Ten sandbags are available per vehicle per visit.
  •  Oak Hill Fire Station, 213 N. U.S. 1, Oak Hill
  •  Volusia County Road and Bridge, 200 N. State Road 415, Osteen
  •  Pierson Fire Station, 132 N. Fountain Drive, Pierson
  •  Volusia County Fairgrounds, 3150 E. State Road 44, DeLand
  •  Volusia County Correctional Facility, 1354 Indian Lake Road, Daytona Beach.
DeBary - The City of DeBary will have sand until 5 p.m. today, or while supplies last, at City Hall, 16 Colomba Road. Residents must provide their own bags and shovels, and fill their own bags. Valid identification is required. Daytona Beach Shores -The City of Daytona Beach Shores will hand out sandbags today in the lobby of City Hall, 2990 South Atlantic Ave.; and Public Safety, 3050 S. Atlantic Ave. Sandbags will be issued to residents only. Identification is required. Daytona Beach - A second sandbag distribution location for Daytona Beach residents is now open at the SE corner of Orange Avenue and Jean Street (across the street from the former police station.) Please bring your own shovel and bags. The City of Daytona Beach has sandbags available at the Public Works facility, 950 Bellevue Ave., Daytona Beach. There is a limit of 10 bags per vehicle. Port Orange - Below is the distribution plan for sand bags as we prepare for Hurricane Irma, should the storm continue on a path that threatens to impact our community. Please see the following locations in Port Orange. The locations are now open until 8 p.m daily. They will open at 8:00 am and close promptly at 8 p.m.

Coraci Park (5200 Coraci Bvd., Port Orange) There will be electronic signboards for each location. Please note: there is a 10-bag limit per household. Sandbags are self-fill, so please make sure to bring a shovel. If you bring your own bags, please make sure they are small trash bags and are double bagged. When picking up sandbags, you must provide proper identification that shows you are a resident of Port Orange (valid Driver's license or utility bill will work as identification).
Ormond BeachUpdate: The City’s Public Works Department will be open for City residents to pick up sand bags from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 7.  Each vehicle may receive a maximum of 10 sand bags.  Residents must provide identification. Sand bags can be picked up at the Public Works Department located at 501 N. Orchard Street, Ormond Beach. The City’s Public Works Department will be open for City residents to pick up sand bags from 12:00 p.m. (noon) today, Wednesday, September 6, until 6:00 p.m. For Thursday and Friday, September 7 and 8, distribution will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., weather permitting. Each vehicle may receive a maximum of 10 sand bags.  Residents must provide identification. Sand bags can be picked up at the Public Works Department located at 501 N. Orchard Street, Ormond Beach. New Smyrna Beach - Sandbags available for New Smyrna Beach Residents September 6, 2017- New Smyrna Beach officials are keeping an eye on weather forecasts that could bring heavy rain and wind as a result of Hurricane Irma to our area later this week. City residents may pick up sandbags from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. the New Smyrna Beach Maintenance Operations Department, 124 Industrial Park Avenue. Sand and bags will be provided; residents must bring shovels and fill their own bags. There is a limit of 10 sandbags per household. Sandbags are free for New Smyrna Beach residents and will be available until further notice. Use the 10 Street side for access. South Daytona - Sandbags are available beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Piggotte Community Center, 504 Big Tree Road, for South Daytona residents only. ID’s will be checked. We are allowing 25 bags per resident. Residents can bring shovels or use those provided. 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily while supplies last. Deltona - The City of Deltona is out of sandbags after giving away 35,000. Edgewater - Edgewater sand stations are self-serve; residents should bring their own bags and shovels and be prepared to fill their own bags. Sand is available at the following locations: ● Fire Station 57, 2628 Hibiscus Drive ● Menard May Park, 413 South Riverside Drive ● Mango Tree Lake, 901 Mango Tree Drive ● Airpark staging area, 1898 Airpark Road Orange City Update: Sand bags for OC residents will be available at the Waggin’ Trail Dog Park, 1201 South Leavitt Avenue on Thurs, Sept 7, 7 am - 7 pm. ID req. Orange City will have sandbags available from 11 a.m. to 7p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6 at the Waggin' Trail Dog Park, 1201 S. Leavitt Ave. Sand and bags will be provided. Residents must bring their own shovel and fill their own bags. There is a limit of 10 sandbags per household. ID is required. DeLand Update: Due to high demand and to ensure as many residents as possible have access to sandbags, we are limiting sand and bags to five per person for the rest of the day. People will be allowed to take five more sandbags the next day. According to our city workers on site, we had filled more than 2,500 sandbags within one hour this morning. As Hurricane Irma approaches the Florida peninsula, sand and bags will be made available to DeLand residents beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday. The sand and bag station, which will be open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., will be located in the parking lot south of Melching Field and along Hubbard Avenue. The station will open again Thursday and Friday at 9 a.m. or until supplies last. People will be limited to 10 bags per person. Shovels will be available for use and city workers will be on site to assist residents. For more information, people are asked to contact Public Works at 386-626-7195. Palm Coast - Update: The City of Palm Coast is now out of sandbags. We still have sand available, and residents can bring heavy-duty plastic bags to create their own sandbags. Palm Coast sand stations are self-serve; residents should bring their own shovels and be prepared to fill their own bags. Sand and bags are available at the following locations: ● Self-service sand station and bags are available during daylight hours at Palm Coast Public Works, 1 Wellfield Grade, off U.S. 1 just north of Palm Coast Parkway. ● Empty sandbags (but no sand) are available during regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Palm Coast City Hall, 160 Lake Ave., and the Palm Coast Utility Department, 2 Utility Drive, Palm Coast. ● Empty sandbags can be filled at three additional self-service sand stations: Holland Park, 18 Florida Park Drive, Palm Coast, Indian Trails Sports Complex, 5455 Belle Terre Pkwy., Palm Coast, and Seminole Woods Neighborhood Park, 350 Sesame Blvd., Palm Coast.
