Multiple Shark Bites To Surfers Reported In New Smyrna Beach

New Smyrna Beach, FL-Beach Safety officers reporting three shark bites today and say they all happened just south of the jetty in New Smyrna Beach. The first one involved a 43-year-old man from Longwood who was bitten on the lower leg and ankle area while surfing around 10:40 AM today. He had "significant lacerations" and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The next bite was to a 36-year-old man from Miami who was bitten on both hands while surfing. He also had "significant lacerations" and was taken the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The third bite happened just before 1 PM to a 16-year-old from New Smyrna. He was bitten on the inner thigh while surfing. His injury was a minor laceration and he was not transported to the hospital. 2016 Southern Stone Communications Copyright
