Daytona Beach, FL – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is warning motorists of lane and ramp closures near Daytona Beach as crews begin to widen I-95 and replace the I-4, I-95, and U.S. 92 interchanges.

Through Saturday, April 28th, crews will be widening I-95 from four to six lanes for a stretch of highway north of S.R. 44 to north of U.S. 92. This phase will join with the recently completed I-95 widening project that widened I-95 from south of S.R. 406 to north of S.R. 44. The current project also includes the reconstruction of the I-95 interchange leading to and from I-4 and U.S. 92. Upon completion of the project, FDOT anticipates increased connectivity and mobility.

Measures are being taken to increase safety for merging, exiting, and through-traffic. The left merge ramp onto I-95 from U.S. 92 will be removed and replaced just south of its previous location. Additional traffic lanes on I-95 will accommodate through-traffic. These lanes will also allow for traffic entering and exiting I-95 to travel in a separate entrance and exit lane.

Construction details of this project include pavement widening, improving drainage systems, bridge widening, bridge replacement, creating retaining walls, installing highway lighting, modifying the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), setting up median barriers, posting signage, creating pavement markings, signalization, milling, and resurfacing.

From 10 PM to 6 AM Tuesday, April 24, to Friday, April 26, the I-4 eastbound to I-95 northbound ramp will be closed. The detour for this route will direct traffic to Beville Road and then to Williamson Boulevard north. From 7 AM to 7 PM and 9 PM to 6 AM Sunday, April 22, through Saturday, April 28, I-95 some northbound and southbound lanes will be closed from U.S. 92 to south of I-4. From 9 PM to 6 AM Sunday, April 22, through Thursday, April 26, there will be single and double lane closures on eastbound and westbound U.S. 92 near I-95.
