Motorcyclist Severely Injured & Burned After Crashing Into Sedan In South Daytona

South Daytona, FL - A crash between a motorcycle and a sedan in South Daytona on Saturday sent the driver of the motorcycle to the hospital with critical injuries, and the motorcycle driver was momentarily on fire as a result of the crash. At around 11:02 AM, 22-year-old Gordon Allen Young III was driving a motorcycle near the intersection of South Nova Rd. and Carriage Cove Way when he crashed into the back of a Chevy Cavalier sedan, according to the South Daytona Police Department (SDPD). 79-year-old Ida Cruciani was driving the Chevy. SDPD says that Young and the motorcycle he was driving were momentarily on fire before bystanders extinguished the flames. Young was wearing a helmet. He was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries. Cruciani sustained no injuries. As of Monday afternoon, Young was in stable condition at the hospital, according to SDPD.
