Motorcyclist Involved In Head-On Collision In DeLand Succumbs To His Injuries

DeLand, FL - According to FHP, the motorcyclist involved in a head-on collision in DeLand on Saturday died from his injuries the next day.

Amanda Gibson, 35, of Daytona Beach was heading East on SR-44 on February 25 in her 2007 Hyundai 4D when she went into the westbound lane for an unknown reason. She then hit 29-year-old Nicholas Hegelson from North Dakota, who was driving a 2011 Yamaha MTC motorcycle, head on.

Hegelson was brought to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford. He succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, February 26. Gibson only suffered minor injuries

The crash is still under investigation.
