St. Augustine, FL - Northern Flagler County's Marineland Dolphin Adventure is gearing up for the beginning of its 80th Anniversary celebrations.

At 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, the park will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the front entrance to unveil the reopened historic arch that has been closed for over 15 years. This kickoff event will begin a month of celebratory activities, says Vice President and General Manager of Marineland Dolphin Adventure, Gary Inks.

Some of the planned events include showings of films produced at Marineland, family days, BOGO ticket days, and appearances by the stars of the recently filmed movie Bernie the Dolphin. For information on all of the Marineland events scheduled for the month of June, visit www.marineland.net.

According to Inks, Bernie the Dolphin was recently shot at Marineland and it features one of the park's dolphins. The film will premiere on December 14, 2018.

The park's official anniversary date is June 23. The facility, which was designed for filmmakers to shoot underwater footage, opened in 1938 under the name Marine Studios and is considered to be the world's first oceanariums. On the day of the exact anniversary, park attendees can expect special guests, proclamations, food and beverages, a silent auction, and a free souvenir booklet.

"A lot of firsts took place right here in Marineland," said Inks. "Our big message this year is for everyone to take part in helping save our World Ocean."
