Posted

Volusia County, FL - The Volusia County Sheriff's Office (VCSO) is seeking the public's help to locate a man wanted on identity theft charges in central and west central Florida.

According to the VCSO, Julian Rutland, 34, goes by many different names and identities as he steals them from others. Rutland steals identities through the mail, then uses the information to open fraudulent lines of credit.

He has 2 active warrants stemming from 6 separate Volusia County cases, with another warrant forthcoming. He also has an active warrant from 2012 in Pasco County related to organized fraud.

Rutland's last known address was in New Port Richey. He may be in a 2010 Ford Flex with a Florida tag CJD-Q46.

The VCSO advises residents to check their credit reports and check with bank(s) regularly to avoid falling victim to this type of crime. Contact the bank to report anything suspicious, then contact law enforcement. Don't leave mail in mailboxes for days at a time and when possible use a secured mailbox.

The VCSO requests that anyone who recognizes Rutland or has any information about his whereabouts, please contact the VCSO at 386-248-1753.

Information may also be given to Crime Stoppers at 888-277-TIPS or Crime Stoppers website here. Tips can qualify for a reward of up to $5,000, and you can stay anonymous.
