Daytona Beach, FL- A Daytona Beach Police officer caught 21-year-old Derrick Goodin in the act of tossing 33-year-old Anthony Mascaro off the Main Street Bridge Sunday afternoon.  The officer was eastbound on the bridge and saw the two men involved in a fistfight. As the officer pulled up next to the brawlers, Goodin grabbed Mascaro, picked him up and threw him face first over the bridge. The officer got out of his vehicle, pointed his service firearm at Goodin, and ordered him to the ground. Goodin initially disregarded the commands and sat on the curb.  The officer continued the command to get on the ground as Goodin got up, reached into his pocket and threw what the officer perceived to be a wallet off the bridge. Goodin then cooperated, got on the ground and the officer was able to handcuff him. Luckily, Mascaro could swim and he was picked up by someone in a rowboat.  He had a small laceration under his right eye and blood on top of his eye but refused medical attention. Mascaro also declined to press charges. Officers interviewed Mascaro and woman that was with him, 34-year-old Stephanie Ellis. Ellis reported that she and Goodin got into an argument over a prior money exchange. Goodin struck her in the face which was when Mascaro got involved. Both Ellis and Mascaro declined to press charges against Goodin. The arresting officer stated in his report that even though the victims did not want to press charges, Goodin was arrested and charged because he put others in extreme danger.  Goodin is being held without bond, charged with felony aggravated battery, misdemeanor battery, and disorderly conduct.  This is Goodin's fourth visit to the Volusia County Jail since March.
