Daytona Beach, FL - Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) says that a man was stabbed to death during a fight over sunglasses near Edward Jones Financial in Daytona. The body of a homeless man in his 40's was found on the ground near the financial firm at 1301 Beville Rd. in Daytona early Thursday morning. Police say that when they arrived, they found the body of the man stabbed twice in the chest, and they found one of the suspects, Mark Lopes, asleep at the scene. While police were still investigating, a second suspect, Patrick Murray, came back to the scene of the crime. Lopes and Murray were both arrested. Murray is charged with first-degree murder since he was thought to be the primary aggressor. He has an extensive criminal history according to police. Lopes is charged with second-degree murder. Police are not yet releasing the name of the victim as they are trying to locate the next-of-kin. The investigation is ongoing, and alcohol is though to be a factor. All that investigators are saying so far about the fight is that it involved sunglasses and that it took place sometime between 1 AM and 3 AM Thursday morning. Daytona Beach Police Chief Craig Capri spoke during a press conference Thursday afternoon. "I think it's tragic. It's ridiculous," said Capri. "It seems nowadays, not just over here in this area, but around the country, there's no regard for human life anymore."
