Man Physically Abuses Disabled Woman

Daytona Beach, FL - A man is arrested by police after he physically abuses his disabled partner on multiple occasions.

Daytona police responded to a domestic disturbance call at the Palm Cove Apartments off South Nova Road on Saturday (September 29th). There they met with a female victim who says her partner, 66-year-old William Sabella, had been abusing her.

She told police that she and Sabella have been living together romantically for four years. She also told police that she had recently had a stroke that disabled her and now receives a social security check.

According to police, she and Sabella began arguing that morning because she would not give Sabella any money that she received from social security. Sabella then got upset and pushed her back while she was in the bathroom, causing her to fall and hit her head on the bathtub, cutting her head.

Then, another narrative from a witness says that a neighbor of her's was walking southbound on Nova Road when she noticed her lying on the ground. She yelled for her neighbor to help her up.

As the neighbor helped her up, Sabella pushed her back down to the ground.

The neighbor helped her up again and walked her back to her apartment, where she called 911.

When officers originally showed up, Sabella was not on the scene. Officers took both of their stories and when offered to press charges against her partner, she refused, fearing that Sabella might kill her if she did. She also refused transportation to a domestic violence shelter.

After a few hours, the officers returned and arrested Sabella.

According to the female victim, 10 minutes before officers showed up again, Sabella punched her in the arm and broke her phone because she was recording him being violent.

Sabella was charged with abuse against a disabled adult and aggravated battery. He's currently held on $20,000 bond at Volusia County Jail.
