Man Killed After Being Hit By Train In Edgewater; Police Call Case Possible Suicide

Edgewater, FL - A man was struck by a freight train Friday morning in Edgewater, and police are calling the case an apparent suicide. The incident occurred at around 6 AM Friday, south of the railroad crossing that intersects 10th St. in New Smyrna Beach. That's close to the city line between New Smyrna and Edgewater. Edgewater Police found a man in his late 30's dead at the scene. The man had been struck by a northbound train. According to Edgewater Police, there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident. Officials are still working to locate the man's next-of-kin.
